Batman: The Animated Series DLC Pack Now Available for LEGO DC Super-Villains

This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Caped Crusader, or the Dark Knight depending on your preference. Or you can just call him Batman, sales-wise the top character of DC Comics and one of their superhero pillars. Among the many celebratory gestures by DC and Warner for Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s iconic creation, is a LEGO video game DLC. Finally made available alongside all downloadable content for WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales’ LEGO DC Super-Villains is a level and character pack based on the seminal animated series popular in the nineties. The Batman: The Animated Series DLC Pack adds a new free-roam level depicting Gotham City as in the hit cartoon show, plus character versions of Batman and several rogues as depicted in that same show.

In addition to the Dark Knight himself, the Batman: The Animated Series DLC Pack classic renditions of villains Man-Bat (the bad guy of the series’ premiere episode), Joker, Mad Hatter, Captain Clown (Joker’s android hit-man), the Phantasm (an ex-girlfriend of Bruce Wayne’s and antagonist in the Mask of the Phantasm film), and of course, the character that debuted in the animated series and became a DC household word herself: Joker’s ax-crazy “girlfriend” Harley Quinn.

Naturally, the Batman: The Animated Series DLC Pack is only playable with the LEGO DC Super-Villains video game as a regular download (for $2.99) or via the Deluxe Edition with Season Pass. For a LEGO gamer and animated DC fan, there seems no better way to celebrate eight decades of Batman than this.

Summer 2019 LEGO DC Comics Superheroes Sets at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

For our last listing of reveals coming from the LEGO show room of the Nuremberg Toy Fair, it looks like fans of the LEGO DC Comics Superheroes theme will be for a bat-filled summer. I’m a fan of the Dark Knight, however, I feel that we already have too much of Batman-inspired sets, whereas there’s a lot to explore from the world of DC Comics. Since last year and up until now, almost all of the LEGO DC Comics Superheroes sets released are centered on Batman. Frankly, it will be nice if LEGO introduces additional LEGO sets and minifigures based on other DC Comics characters. But since we are celebrating 80 years of crime-fighting with the Caped Crusader, then perhaps this is something that is easily forgiveable. Well, like them or not, here are the summer 2019 LEGO DC Comics Superheroes sets that you can expect in June. These sets’ respective box arts is said to have a unique 80 years of Batman logo as reported by Zusammengebaut.

  • Batman and Robin & Freeze Battle (76118)
  • Batmobile Pursuit of Joker (76119)
  • Batman and Riddler Heist (76120)
  • Batcave Clayface Invasion (76122)
  • Batman Vs. Riddler 4+ (76137)
  • The Joker Escape 4+ (76138)
  • Batvehicle D2C set (76139)
76111 1
2018’s LEGO DC Comics Batman: Brother Eye Takedown (76111) featuring the very first Batwoman minifigure.

The Batcave Clayface Invasion (76122) is expected to be a sizeable retailing for 99 Euros. Furthermore, the set features another variant of Batwoman which is probably different from the first minifigure of her released last year in Batman: Brother Eye Takedown (76111). The Batvehicle direct-to-consumer set (76139) was not mentioned during the Nuremberg Toy Fair, but I opted to include it here as it was referred to by fans and insiders within LEGO fan forums. We have to wait until the New York Toy Fair kicks in more information.

A Look at the LEGO DC Super Villains Hub World

Warner Bros and TT Games seem to be in a generous streak lately, now that they have shared an early inside look at their latest video game offering ahead of its release next week. Thanks to the efforts of Brick to Life, we now have our first look at the LEGO DC Super Villains Hub World which maps out some of the various locations that your rookie super-powered villain will traverse to throughout the game.

As revealed in earlier announcements, the LEGO DC Super Villains Hub World will feature some of the iconic DC comics locations such as the Daily Planet, Metropolis, Smallville and even Apokolips. Watch the video below and try to see if you can identify other places.

Similar to last year’s LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 video game, the LEGO DC Super Villains will allow you to select from a huge roster of DC super-powered villains and to utilize their skill sets as the situation calls for it. You will start as the customizable Rookie at the beginning game, unlocking several DC villains along the way.

Speaking of villains, I find it really cool seeing the Reverse Flash speeding his way through the streets of Metropolis. It’s like playing Sonic the Hedgehog in Sonic Unleashed.

03 ldvsc hub

True to form with other LEGO video games, the LEGO DC Super Villains also comes with a host of new puzzles to solve that are tied to a particular skill of a specific character. Towards the end of the video clip, we see Joker and his handy spray paint utility which he uses to unlock a rather nasty problem in the character of Doomsday. I really didn’t expect that in the end.

I’m pretty sure that there are still a handful of surprises waiting within the LEGO DC Super Villains Hub World so be sure to explore them all once you get your own copy of the game on October 16. And if you haven’t ordered your copy yet, you may pre-order the Deluxe Edition to get early access to the game’s Season Pass and an EXCLUSIVE Lex Luthor physical minifigure.

Thanks again to Bricks to Life for sharing this video clip.

Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 Is Now In Full Swing!

Toy Fair season is definitely upon us, with the London Toy Fair just being recently concluded, we now move on to the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 – the next leg of international toy fairs that give us a glimpse of things to come especially in the world of LEGO bricks.

The Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 in Germany, dubbed as the largest toy fair in the world, has now opened its doors to all retailers and guests, and covering the action right there at the LEGO booth are the ever-reliable teams of Promobricks and Zusammengebaut. Credit goes to their kind efforts in sharing these images with the world.

Suffice it to say, LEGO did a good job of having its active themes covered on the opening day of the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017, so let’s take a while to break down what was revealed so far during the past hours. We’ll try to comment on these images as the opportunity arises, but in the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts on these sets. A huge thanks to Promobricks for sharing these images!

LEGO Technic

This may come as a surprise for LEGO Technic fans. LEGO has revealed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 a building guide that allows you to combine this year’s Technic sets particularly, 42057, 42061, and 42063, to come up with the iconic Technic chassis from 1977.

We know that LEGO has a sweet spot for the Technic theme since it is one of the longest lines of sets that it has ever came up with. If the inclusion of the 40th commemorative beam in its 2017 sets is already a very much welcomed token, then the presence of the commemorative building guide as revealed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 (which will be made available for free during the second half of the year according to Zusammengebaut) is a great bonus.

LEGO Marvel and DC Comics Super Heroes

Though LEGO has not revealed any images yet, it’s great to know that The LEGO Group has finally confirmed its latest line of superhero sets dedicated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Comics Super Heroes. The box art that was on display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 confirms that we’ll be seeing several sets all dedicated to the much-awaited films such as Spider-Man: Homecoming (sets 76082 & 76083), Thor: Ragnarok (sets 76084 & 76088), and DC’s Justice League (sets 76085, 76086, and 76087).

Also on display were the recently revealed LEGO Marvel Superheroes:

Captain America Jet Pursuit (76076)

Iron Man: Detroit Steel Strikes (76077)

LEGO Speed Champions

The 2017 LEGO Speed Champions collection was also on display, less the McLaren Road Car (75880) that is yet to be revealed.

LEGO Juniors Cars 3

nuremberg toy fair 2017

There seems to be another previously reported ‘fake’ news that turned out to be true after all. Hot off the trail that the rumored LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Men Tell No Tales (71042) was eventually legit, the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 has revealed that LEGO indeed has its sights in coming up with a line of sets dedicated to the third comeback of Lightning McQueen in Disney Pixar’s Cars 3. These watermarked box arts were put on display bearing set numbers 10730, 10731, 10732, 10733, 10742, 10743, 10744, & 10745.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 17 and LEGO Ninjago Movie

We know that Series 17 of LEGO’s CMF is just around the corner. In fact, leaked images of some of its minifigs are already out there in the wild. However, LEGO has been particularly tight-lipped with its next line of cinematic CMFs, particularly on its next theatrical offering, The LEGO Ninjago Movie.

Though the box on display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 was sort of the generic type, the number of minifigs (20 in this series) gives us a hint that LEGO intends to repeat its minifig offerings, the same as that from the LEGO Batman Movie. The picture also below somehow gives us an idea of how our teen ninjas will look in their first-ever cinematic debut.

Other LEGO Highlights at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017

Some of LEGO’s highlights at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 also include a demonstration of its upcoming LEGO Boost Creative Toolbox (17101) and the official launch of the social media platform for LEGO fans, the LEGO Life app.

Noticeably missing in action during day 1 of the Nuremberg Toy Fair are the recent LEGO Batman Movie summer sets, those from the LEGO Ninjago Movie, and from the LEGO Star Wars theme.

So what do you think brick fans? What other sets will LEGO reveal in the next few days? Drop us a note in the comments below or head over at our Facebook page and join in the conversation.

Official Images of LEGO 76056 DC Comics Super Heroes Batman: Rescue from Ra’s al Ghul Emerges

We finally have this first look at the third and final installment of this year’s Batman LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes sets. LEGO understandably did not reveal everything at the New York Toy Fair last February so fans can have something to look forward to (and to speculate about in fan forums delightfully) during the next few months. The wait is finally over since we have our first official set image of LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman: Rescue from Ra’s al Ghul 76056.

[]

[]

Thanks to a tip from Brick Toy News, we found out that Amazon’s Japanese website has already listed 76056 for pre-order, with a projected release date of June 3. As you may have noticed, there is no piece count yet for this set with a price of 6,548 Japanese Yen roughly equivalent to $59.57. This is quite high for a set that somehow has a piece count that falls between that of LEGO DC Comics Superheroes Batman: Scarecrow Harvest of Fear 76054 (which is at 563 pieces retailing at $59.99) and of Spider-Man: Ghost Rider Team Up 76058 (217 pieces at $19.99). Brickset already added Batman: Rescue from Ra’s al Ghul 76056 to its database with a retail price of $39.99.

76056 is a catch in itself considering that we have three new minifigures that come with it: Talia Al Ghul, Ra’s Al Ghul, and a new brownish-tan, Desert Batman. Robin, on the other hand, seems to be the same Robin minifigure as seen from LEGO Batman: The Joker Steam Roller 76013 with an additional hood or headpiece element. The Ra’s Al Ghul minifig looks very similar to what has been reported to us by just2good a couple of weeks ago. The minifig also seems to be dual-sided as seen from the box art.

We hope to see high-resolution images of 76056 anytime soon, similar to what we have shown so far for the rest of the 2016 Summer LEGO Super Heroes and Star Wars releases. For now, we are still watching out for the remaining LEGO Super Heroes sets that are expected to be released as part of the final wave of summer releases which include the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum (76060), and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Captain America: Civil War Set #4 (76067).

We’ll keep you posted for more updates so be sure to stay tuned here at the Brick Show.

LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham Video Game Announced

LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham was announced today (see trailer below) and will be coming to all major consoles, handhelds, and the PC with a release date of Fall 2014.

LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham – The Story So Far

The storyline follows Batman on an intergalactic adventure seeking to stop Brainiac from destroying Earth. Brainiac is using the power of the Lantern Rings to miniaturize cities and Batman and other DC heroes will visit different Lantern Worlds to collect the Rings to try and stop Brainiac. Here’s the official Brainiac trailer of this latest LEGO video game in case you missed it.

The LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham video game will feature 150 characters from the DC universe. It was also revealed that Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy will be featured as larger characters much as The Hulk and Abomination was in the LEGO Marvel video game. In addition, the sequel will allow players to visit the Hall of Justice, the Justice League Watchtower, and the Batcave.

From a toy perspective, we hope a few minifigs shown in the trailer will be coming to minifig form (Intergalactic Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Cyborg).
