Let’s Talk About the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19

Alright, this is like those moments where you have to address the elephant in the room – and this is somewhat expected. They’ve started appearing online a few days ago and from the looks of things, somebody seemed to have an early hands-on take on LEGO’s next CMF line still slated for release sometime in September. We had a hint of its release date through a teaser that first appeared in the LEGO Catalogue 2HY (July to December) released in the Netherlands. Though we don’t have official images yet of this next wave of collectible minifigs, the checklist or the insert for the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19 is now making its rounds online. I am not at liberty to share its leaked image right here, but just a few clicks and an Instagram search will point you to the way if you really want to be in the loop. For the meantime, let’s talk about each of these minifigures and see if LEGO made a good call in coming up with them.

Do take note that these are just tentative names for each of the sixteen LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19 characters based on common observations among LEGO fan forums. So with that out of the way, let’s check out this list of names and characters as they appear on the blind bag insert.

1. Video Gamer -it’s not quite clear to me if this minifigure is holding a video game poster, a case or some sort of oversized trading card. But I’m more compelled to think that it is a video game case of sorts. He also carries a new LEGO video game controller – yes, it’s a new one – and it takes its cue from an Xbox console. With regards to the minifig itself, I like how the earphone turns out as it compliments the ‘bring your game on’ look from this veteran gamer.

2. Shower Guy – This guy is happy with his new shower cap piece and I’m sure a lot of fans will be glad to have it as well. Accessories include a rubber duckie that comes in a new green color and scrub.

3. Ghost Knight – I like this minifigure for its translucent minifig head and sword accessory. The shield itself is imposing enough with its intimidating bat print, while the Ghost Knight’s helmet looks similar to those worn by ancient gladiatorial combatants. An army of this and you have a force to reckon with.

4. Monkey King – what caught my attention right away are the fine details that appear on the armor/torso of this Monkey King minifigure. The minifigure head is of a new print which is somewhat similar to the LEGO Chima minifigs that were released from 2013-2014. Accessories include a cape, shoulder plate, and staff.

5. Lady Programmer – this is a great addition to any science lab MOC that you might be working on. This minifig seems to sport a binary themed shirt and what looks like a new hairpiece that is arranged as a bun. She also comes with a brick-built mini robot and a laptop piece that comes in a new color variant.

6. Lady Mummy – LEGO has released a handful of mummy minifigs in the past, but this latest iteration comes in as a female character. She also comes with a new green headdress that is quite different from the standard mold that previous mummy minifigs have. She also comes with a gold scorpion figure.

7. Wildlife Explorer -this minifigure seems to have been inspired by 2017’s LEGO City Jungle subtheme. I like how the details turned out on its torso as it complements its overall outdoor vibe. The Wildlife Explorer also comes with a backpack, magnifying glass and a cowboy hat accessory worn by McCree in LEGO Overwatch Dorado Showdown (75972), making this 2nd minifig to sport such a headgear. It also comes with a chameleon figure which I bet will be one of the reasons why people will feel their way to its blind bag.

8. Lady Fire Chief – I have to admit that I’m a bit underwhelmed with this one since this year’s LEGO City Firefighters subtheme already features its first female firefighter in Burger Bar Fire Rescue (60214). However, this latest iteration comes with a slightly different color scheme and printing, a new hairpiece, a red firefighter helmet and what seems to be a new megaphone element which she uses to give her marching orders.

9. Dog Babysitter – the obvious takeaway for this CMF are the dog figures that come with it. We already have our first French Bulldog figure from LEGO CMF Series 17 (71018) released two years ago and this time around, LEGO is kind enough to throw in not one, but two dog figures in one pack.  The Dog Babysitter minifig includes not just a French Bulldog, but also a new Dachshund figure. Oh, and as an added bonus, we also have our very first LEGO poop element! It’s kind of hilarious to think of the many possibilities that can come out from this seemingly harmless looking piece of LEGO element.

10. Pizza Guy – The LEGO Movie 2 CMF (71023) introduced us to the Watermelon Guy, and it looks like this latest Series 19 minifig decided to borrow his costume and garnish it with generous portions of pepperoni. The Pizza Guy also comes with a new 2×3 printed tile to complement his mouth-watering costume. This minifigure is on my must-have checklist, as it looks great alongside the LEGO City Pizza Van (60150) from 2017.

11. Space Hunter – I’m sure Blacktron fans will love to have their hands on this one. His all-black armor is accentuated with yellow markings akin to the laser sights. He also comes with a new helmet design and what seems to be a red, holographic wanted poster.

12. Flamingo Lady – here’s another example of a minifigure blind bag that you might possibly want to feel your way through because of the accessory that comes with it. Series 19 introduces us to our first flamingo figure and it looks great! I love the brightness of its color and a handful of these will make an excellent lakeside MOC. The Flamingo Lady minifigure comes in a color combination that perfectly highlights the color of the flamingo itself.

13. Rugby Player– have a dozen of this and you certainly have a winning LEGO minifigure team. This Rugby Player comes in with dual-molded legs, a new dark green helmet (or black?) and a new a ball accessory that we can expect to be highly sought for in any sports-themed MOC.

14. Fox Suit Guy – this is one entry that seems to have missed the CMF train from the LEGO Movie 2. He comes with a chicken figure and a bag accessory to place his catch (or prey) of the day. This minifig is a great addition to anyone’s growing collection of costumed minifigure characters.

15. Rainbow Care Bear – now for a lack of a better term, I’ll go for what majority of LEGO fans are calling this little fella. Perhaps taking a cue from the classic 80s animated series, this Rainbow Care Bear sports a white shirt, with a pastel-colored rainbow printed on it. But other than the pop culture reference, this minifigure comes in a rare pink and blue pastel color theme and a new rainbow-printed semi-circular plate and a heart-shaped tile as well.

16. Bicyclist – this minifigure comes with a green helmet accessory, a pink torso, and dual-molded legs. The catch with this minifig is the blue bicycle piece that comes with it. Though we have plenty of bikes to go around especially those from the LEGO City theme, it seems to me that this is the first time that we have this in a blue variant.

Again, this latest LEGO CMF is slated to be released sometime in September, so we can somehow expect official images to come out early in August. So what do you think of the new LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19? Which one is a must-have for you? Let me know in the comments below.

LEGO Officially Reveals the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71024)

Well, this really made my day. In its official Facebook page, LEGO greeted us with a very welcome surprise, and officially announcing its next wave of collectible minifigures. It has been teased since early this January with the release of the 2019 LEGO Catalog, particularly along side with the LEGO Movie 2 CMF. The LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71024) consists of 18 minifigures, featuring timeless, classic characters and newer ones. LEGO’s selection for this wave doesn’t disappoint because some of these minifigure offerings complement the ones that were released before in LEGO Disney CMF Series 1 (71012) – such as Princess Jasmin and Jaafar; and Edna Mode and Frozone. I am personally looking forward for the Ducktales and the Nightmare Before Christmas minifigs.

Exclusive and Signed LEGO Movie 2 Minifigures Given Away At Select LEGO Stores

This next LEGO Movie 2 promotional seems to be so low-key that I never recall any mention of it among LEGO’s usual information channels. But considering how sparse they are, then it’s understandable why LEGO would like to keep it this way. Some LEGO fans and VIP members have taken to Twitter to share their find of what could be one of the rarest LEGO minifigure recently released. As it seems, several exclusive and signed LEGO Movie 2 minifigures were given away at selected LEGO Stores in celebration of the upcoming release of the film sequel.

LEGO VIP member Andrew tweeted yesterday that the LEGO Store in Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey gave away a signed a Wasteland Batman minifigure from the LEGO Movie 2. This rare and exclusive minifigure features LEGO Batman as he is seen in the Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard (70836) and Welcome to Apocalypseburg (70840) sets, and it comes with a one-of-a-kind signed minifigure baseplate.

According to the very fortunate LEGO fan, the exclusive minifigure was given away to the first customer of the day who bought a LEGO Movie 2 product (in his case three blind bags of the LEGO Movie 2 collectible minifigures) on February 2. Furthermore, it seems that a handful of these promotional and signed LEGO Movie 2 minifigures were also given away in other LEGO Stores in the country. Another Twitter user also posted another similar find when she bought several LEGO Movie 2 CMF blind bags at the LEGO Store in Chandler Fashion Center in Chandler, Arizona. What she received was an exclusively signed Tiffany Haddish minifigure, with the actress playing the role of Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi in the film. It’s nice if we can have a closer look at Haddish’s minifigure counterpart, considering that we don’t have any similar minifigure released together with the currently offered LEGO Movie 2 sets.

It’s interesting to see which other LEGO Movie 2 characters also received the same exclusive treatment. Will we see Emmet or Rex (both played by Chris Pratt), WyldStyle (Elizabeth Banks), Sweet Mayhem (Stephanie Beatriz) and other signed minifigures as well?

Let us know if you ever spot them in your local LEGO Stores.

LEGO Movie 2 Welcome to Apocalpyseburg, and Collectible Minifigures Now Available

In case you missed it, the LEGO Movie 2 Welcome to Apocalpyseburg (70840) set is now available online and in LEGO brand stores starting this February. As the LEGO Movie 2’s first, direct-to-consumer set, the Welcome to Apocalypseburg comes in at 3,178 pieces, 12 minifigures and tons of play features for virtually each section of this massive build. It retails for $299.99 in the US and you can purchase it online at shop.LEGO.com70840 Box1 v39

This month also marks the release of the much-anticipated LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023). LEGO fans are looking forward to this collection, particularly for the Wizard of Oz characters that are included in this first wave of TLM2 CMF offering. This newest series of collectible minifigures features 20 minifigs, which are quite easy to catch if you ever happen to stumble on a newly opened box. We know for a fact that this might be the easiest CMF series to collect and complete, considering that each row of 20 minifigure blind bags gives you a complete set of the characters included in this first wave of TLM2 minifigs. Each blind bag retails for $3.99 in the US.

As an added bonus and in celebration of the Lunar New Year, LEGO has already announced its new promotional LEGO Year of the Pig (40186). From today and until Thursday, February 7, any single receipt, minimum purchase of any LEGO products worth $88 and above, entitles you to this exclusive seasonal set. As of this posting, this latest promotional is still up, and is available upon checkout at store.LEGO.com.

Are We To See LEGO Fabuland Figures in Future The LEGO Movie 2 Sets?

Warner Bros Animation has released its latest teaser spot with a very interesting twist. We all know by now that the LEGO Movie 2 is chockfull of cameos and references coming from LEGO’s diverse range of home-grown themes and third-party licensed sets. Pop culture icons (though with some mild, political undertones) such as Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is also rendered in minifigure form. The latest teaser also has a very brief, but significant cameo towards the end, which is loaded with nostalgia and the possibility that we can get to see them again in future TLM2 sets. If you haven’t seen it yet or just missed it during the last 2 or 3 seconds of the teaser, then here’s the video once again that clearly shows a couple of LEGO Fabuland figures as posted in the LEGO Movie 2’s official Twitter account.

AFOLs quickly noticed these LEGO Fabuland figures amongst this team of LEGO minifigures, minidolls and Duplo figures. For those who are new to LEGO, Fabuland is a theme that began in 1979 and lasted for more than a decade until 1989. It is designed for younger children and features animal characters in a town-like setting. Imagine an old-school version of Nintendo’s Animal Crossing and you’ll get the idea.

02 lego fabuland and fox suit girl 1
A screenshot of a LEGO Fabuland figure.
01 lego fabuland and fox suit girl 2
Another LEGO Fabuland figure is seen further back.

As you can see from the above screenshots, the LEGO Movie 2 adds a couple of LEGO Fabuland figures as cameos in the film. We get to see a Fabuland Bulldog in front and a gray Fabuland Dog in the third row. As far as the LEGO Movies are concerned, this is the first time that these LEGO Fabuland figures had their actual screen time since they were only casually mentioned in the first film. This is only speculation at this point, but since LEGO has basically broken away with the tradition of offering minifigs, minidolls, and Duplo characters in separate themes and boxes, can we expect therefore that the next wave of LEGO Movie 2 sets will include actual LEGO Fabuland characters? We saw how LEGO is very much willing to bring back classic minfigs that alludes to the Classic Space theme such as those from Benny’s Space Squad (70841), and the rumored re-emergence of classic LEGO Star Wars sets and minfigures as part of LEGO’s 20th Year Celebration of the LEGO Star Wars theme. So is it possible that we will see the same treatment offered to LEGO Fabuland figures? The possibility is surely exciting.

00 lego fabuland and fox suit girl 1
A new Fox Suit Girl minifigure is also seen in the teaser spot.
03 lego fabuland and fox suit girl 2
It is likely that the Fox Suit Girl minifigure may be a part of a second series of TLM2 CMF.

In addition to these LEGO Fabuland characters, perhaps a second wave of the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures is now in the works. This is not far-fetched considering that LEGO did the same with the LEGO Batman Movie CMF Series 1 and Series 2. The idea is spurred by the appearance of a new costumed character, now dubbed as Fox Suit Girl. Again, these are just speculations at this point but it is something really cool if it turns to be true. It is highly unlikely that we’ll get confirmation from this soon, even if LEGO’s presence is very noticeable at the London Toy Fair that is currently happening at Olympia London. In any case, a second series of TLM2 CMF is surely welcomed, and we’ll have plenty more ideas of what characters can be possibly included in the series once we see the LEGO Movie 2 in theaters on February 8.

LEGO Reveals the Official Character Names of the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023)

LEGO has finally unveiled the official names of the characters that comprise the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023). We had a closer look at their official images, and we already know how they’re distributed per box, and now LEGO has finally made the reveal giving us an official description of this new CMF series.

First off, we have some of the main stars of the sequel and also those from the previous film, including some new for 2019 minifigure costumes and accessories such as Emmet’s headphone wig, Lucy’s hood, and Rex’s Fedora and wig. President Business also comes with a new golf club accessory while Benny has a new mechanical arm, toolbox, and sporting a rather tough expression. Unikitty is being her usual self, beaming with positivity.

For most LEGO collectors, this might be one of the main selling points of the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible MInifigures (71023) series. The iconic characters of the classic fairy tale Wizard of Oz are now rendered in LEGO minifigs. LEGO also went the extra mile to make this quartet extra special: we have a new Dorothy hairpiece, new hat accessories for Tin Man and Scarecrow, and a new lion’s mane accessory for the Cowardly Lion. Add the Wicked Witch from LEGO Dimensions (71221) or from the Ultimate Bat Mobile (70917), then you have one great classic collection of fairy tale characters.

The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) Box Distribution Revealed

LEGO has officially revealed the upcoming LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) via its Facebook page. We are also aware that each box contains 60 minifigures, however, we don’t have an inkling on how the 20 minifigures in the series are distributed. Much so if LEGO opted to throw in a certain chase minifigure, similar to what it did with the LEGO Movie CMF Series 18 (71021) Classic Policeman minifig. But thanks to Promobricks and BrickSanity, we now have an idea about the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) box distribution, and how many complete sets can we get out of each box.

71023 box distribution 3

Thankfully, it is confirmed that there are three complete sets included in each box of 60 minifigures. And to make it even easier, Promobricks has also confirmed that each row of 20 minifigs corresponds exactly to one complete series, virtually removing any efforts of feeling your way through each blind bag if ever you can get your hands on an unopened box. This is a much-welcomed gesture from LEGO, and as far as I remember a first one of sorts.

One thing that you’ll notice is that the blind bag for the LEGO Movie 2 CMF is also considerably larger than its predecessors, similar to the size of the LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figures (41775). Furthermore, according to Promobricks, the material used for the blind bag is somewhat thinner than before which makes feeling your way through each minifigure relatively easier.

71023 box distribution 1

Since the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) box distribution has already been revealed, making it much easier to acquire a complete set, we can expect a lot of LEGO collectors rushing their way to LEGO Stores at the end of the month to be one of the firsts to get an unopened box. The LEGO Movie 2 CMF (71023) is not yet listed at shop.LEGO.com, but you can bet that some LEGO physical stores already have them stocked in their storerooms.

A Closer Look at the LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023)

Before anything else, allow me to greet everyone a happy 2019! Yes, it has been quite a while since I made my last post here in the blog site with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and not to mention a seriously annoying case of flu that has been plaguing our family (including myself) starting this week. But yeah, everything is still manageable. Anyways, there has been a lot going on in the brick-built world of LEGO during the past couple of days, and allow me to start with what most of us is very excited about. We saw their debut in LEGO’s 2019 H1 (or first half of the year) catalog, and this time thanks to the effort of Promobricks, we now have a closer look at the very exciting, LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023).

Bear in mind that LEGO has not yet released the ‘official’ names of these minifigures but judging from a rough Google Translation from the German online toy store B&B, we can have the following tentative names. Check these out.

LEGO Movie 2 Keeping It Awesomer With Emmet Book Reveals Exclusive Emmet Minifigure

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is still a few months away from cinemas, but being a film based on an epic toy brand, and a much awaited sequel, means that it’s got a load of related merchandise coming in line with the premiere. Beyond the usual tie-in sets and collectible minifigures that we can expect from LEGO, Amazon has revealed our first LEGO Movie 2 inspired book that even comes with a free Emmet minifigure: The LEGO Movie 2 Keeping It Awesomer With Emmet.

Obviously, the book’s selling point will be the new minifigure iteration of Emmet as we see him again in the LEGO Movie 2 trailer. Based on this Amazon listing, Emmet seems to come with a pretty beat up garb (or it could be the clam shell cover, I’m not really sure), which is understandable considering after going through the apocalyptic events of Taco Tuesday.

A closer look at this new Emmet minifigure shows that he will also include a pair of goggles, and what looks like to be a plant piece from well, Planty.

Amazon already has Keeping it Awesomer with Emmet (which they call Emmet’s Guide to Being Awesome-rlisted on their platform. Here’s the book blurb:

Let Emmet teach you how to be AWESOMER with his guide to life!Includes an exclusive Emmet Minifigure. THE LEGO MOVIE 2 – in cinemas February 2019! JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT COULDN’T GET AWESOMER… Remember when everything was awesome? Now get ready for even bigger, awesomer, and more action-packed adventures with Emmet and all his very best brick friends from THE LEGO MOVIE! When we last saw Emmet, he was the most positive, caring, super-duper guy in Bricksburg. This time, Emmet’s eternal optimism and master-building abilities will be put to the ultimate test: The very existence of play is at stake! Can Unikitty and Lucy help him stay positive? Can Benny the spaceman finally get a new helmet? Will Batman work in other colours than black? Will Metal Beard build new multi-purpose legs? Why are you still reading all these questions? Just buy the book!

This LEGO Movie book (and its accompanying Emmet minifig and accessories) comes out on January 3 next year, with a retail price of $11.13 on Amazon. Pre-orders are now accepted in case you want this new version of Emmet .

The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) Teased for February 2019

I guess this is somehow expected. Like its predecessor, The LEGO Movie 2 is getting tons of attention from The LEGO Group, with a good number of tie-in sets slated for next year, some of which were already listed by Amazon France. Now LEGO news authority in Germany, Promobricks, have recently received their latest copy of this year’s LEGO Christmas Catalog and from the looks of it, we will be receiving a new wave of LEGO Collectible Minifigures just in time with the film’s release in February. If you recall in 2014, LEGO has also released a similar CMF line in celebration of the first LEGO Movie. With the Harry Potter and Wizarding World CMF hype starting to wind down, LEGO is now building on the momentum by teasing on the arrival of The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) by February 2019.

lego katalog weihnachten 2018 8

This particular page from the LEGO Christmas Catalogue hints on the arrival of a new Collectible Minifigures series, scheduled for February. It is reasonable to assume that this whole new CMF line will be dedicated to The LEGO Movie sequel since all eyes will be on this next big, brick-inspired animation film. We can also see another hint from LEGO set portal Price Vortex where the site listed The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023).

If ever this rumor is confirmed by LEGO themselves, then we can assume that this will be a great CMF line to collect. The introduction of our TLM characters’ new designs following the events of the infamous post-Taco Tuesday, were received quite positively by LEGO fans. The minifigure characters that we see from the film’s trailer so far show a rather tough and Mad-Max style of design, so we can somehow expect that several of the character in this rumored CMF line will also sport a similar look. It will also be great to see the new Wasteland Batman minifigure included in this series.

Now that we’re counting the days before the New York Comic Con kicks in, let’s wait and see if LEGO has something in-store for us. The LEGO Movie 2 is scheduled to hit theaters in the US on February 8, 2019.
