LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 and Ecto-2 (75828) Officially Revealed

It was roughly 4 days ago when he had our first glimpse of the LEGO Ghostbusters vehicles courtesy of just2good at Eurobricks, and this time, it seems that Amazon Japan has updated its LEGO database with the set’s official box art image. Take a look. The Amazon Japan listing further states that the LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 and Ecto-2 (75828) is scheduled to be released locally on July 22 – exactly a week after the movie’s 2016 femme fatale remake debuts in US theaters on July 15. The set is believed to have 556 pieces, together with all the modern Ghostbusters minifigures – all five of them – gathered in one set. With a great deal on the number of minifigs that come with the set, then a price point of $59.99 sounds reasonable.

Fourth LEGO Marvel Captain America Civil War Set 76067 Finally Found!

Throughout the weekend, Eurobricks member Jacob_9821 finally gave us our first look at the highly anticipated fourth Captain America Civil War set, the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Tanker Truck Takedown 76067 which we previously mentioned as one of the sets that we’re still waiting to see this summer. Thanks to Jacob_9821, we now have these images.

[]

76067 looks great at so many points. First off, we finally have our newest minifigure version of Spider-Man as we see him in the Civil War. For most of us, this is one Spidey that we will add to our roster of most wanted minifigures. Then we have another minifig rendition of Vision which we first had in The Avengers Quinjet City  Chase 76032 – a larger set as compared to 76067. We also have a newer version of Hawkeye with a purple vest that perfectly matches his similarly colored motorcycle. His bike itself is a great build that closely resembles that of Captain America’s Motorcycle 30447. Finally, Tanker Truck Takedown 76067 is a great complement to Super Hero Airport Battle 76051 as it depicts that epic scene where the Avengers are forced to fight each other.

This fourth Civil War set wraps up everything that we know so far about LEGO’s releases under this theme and is expected to be a retailer exclusive. Stephen made an interesting set analysis of the first three sets from the Civil War, highlighting the best features among them. Tom also wrote an excellent article on the accuracy of these sets as compared to the actual scenes that were depicted in the film. Be sure to take a look at these superb commentaries and share with us what you think about the LEGO Civil War collection in the comments below.

LEGO Summer 2016 Star Wars, Friends, and Creator Sets Are Now Available at LEGOLAND Germany Ahead Of Its Official Release

It seems that there will be plenty of happy LEGO fans in Germany since the much-awaited 2016 Summer LEGO sets have finally landed over at LEGOLAND Allee in Günzburg, Germany. The guys of Promobricks took some time off to visit LEGOLAND Allee, and they were delightfully surprised to see the much talked about 2016 Summer LEGO sets, specifically those from Star Wars, Friends and Creator lineups are now on display at the theme park’s store shelves ahead of its official release.

LEGO announced earlier during the New York Toy Fair that the above-mentioned sets will be released in the US sometime in August, while both Amazon UK and Amazon Japan have already listed these sets for pre-order to be released during the first week of June in their localities. Here are some of the images that Promobricks have snapped inside the store of LEGOLAND Allee in Germany.

Exclusive LEGO Scooby-Doo Minifigure 30601 Polybag Found Over at eBay

If you can recall, we reported that the lovable Great Dane is back in another original LEGO direct-to-DVD film, LEGO Scooby-Doo! Haunted Hollywood. Similar to other home titles such as LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Justice League Gotham City Breakout, Haunted Hollywood also comes with an exclusive, limited edition Scooby Doo minifigure. Though these films are fun to watch and make a good addition to our home theater collection, most LEGO enthusiasts will find the exclusive LEGO Scooby-Doo minifigure 30601 polybag freebie as the most enticing selling point of the films. LEGO Scooby-Doo Haunted Hollywood is now listed on Amazon for those who would like to avail a copy of the film, together with the Scooby minifigure that comes along with it.

Check Out the LEGO Scooby-Doo minifigure 30601 Polybag!

Similar to the sightings that we have on the Nightwing (30606) minifigure, Minifig Price Guide reports that the exclusive LEGO Scooby-Doo also comes in a polybag with a serial number of 30601 attached to it. The Great Dane’s 2-piece polybags were found over at eBay, with a handful of sellers offering them at ridiculously high prices of $12 to $25, considering that the film itself only costs at a discounted price of $16.99 at Amazon. Amazon offers more value for your money on this one. Here are some pics posted by sellers on eBay.

We’re not sure when Amazon will have Haunted Hollywood in stock. As of this writing, Amazon or any other toy retailer has not listed the LEGO Scooby-Doo Minifigure 30601 polybag separately. So if you’re raring to have Scooby in his minifig form without breaking the bank, the best choice as of now is to take advantage of Amazon’s discounted offer while supplies last.

Thanks, Minifig Price Guide for the tip.

UPDATE: LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Justice League Gotham City Breakout Now Available for Pre-order

Last month, we hinted at the possible release date of LEGO’s next DC Comics Super Heroes direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray feature animation, Justice League Gotham City Breakout. Here’s some good news for those who are waiting for this release. Amazon has already listed the said film for pre-order, retailing at $24.98 which will be released on June 21. This was quite close to our prediction before which is a week earlier than June 27. What most of us know already is that this LEGO DVD/Blu-ray feature comes with the exclusive Blue Nightwing minifigure. For some, this is the selling point of Gotham City Breakout and the reason why most fans would like to get a copy of the film.

[]

[]

For our friends in Europe, Amazon UK has also listed Gotham City Breakout for pre-order which will be released on a much later date of July 4. Here’s the movie’s synopsis as posted by Amazon, followed by the official movie trailer.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout (Blu-ray+DVD+Digital HD UltraViolet Combo Pack)

Batman faces his greatest challenge yet: VACATION! The caped crusader reluctantly agrees to let Batgirl and Nightwing take him on a long overdue vacation from crimefighting, while Superman and the Justice League watch over Gotham City. Neither operation goes as planned when Batman’s vacation is cut short by dangers from his past and invaders from the center of the earth, and Superman and the other Leaguers quickly realize just how much Batman usually has his hands full with the villains of Gotham.

Images and First Official Poster of ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ Revealed

While the world is bracing itself for a barrage of awe-inspiring superhero movies this year starting with the much anticipated Batman VS Superman hitting theaters this weekend, Will Arnett’s brick rendition of the DC’s Dark Knight will launch a trailer this Wednesday to officially kick off the LEGO Batman Movie.

The latest LEGO movie for the big screen slated to hit cinemas on February 10, 2017, is a spinoff of the highly successful 2014 LEGO Movie. But before we exclaim ‘Everything is Awesome!’, the first images from the movie were shared by USA Today just in time before the trailer’s debut.

[]

[]

[]

2014’s The LEGO Movie portrayed the plastic Caped Crusader as a ‘dark’ brooding character singing a hard-rock tune, “Darkness! No Parents!” and according to Director Chris McKay, the LEGO Batman Movie will show a different side of the Dark Knight. For most of his LEGO crime-fighting career, Batman was used to a solitary existence while in perpetual denial of how lonely he is. True, he may have feelings for Wildstyle, but he can’t seem to progress to that level of making meaningful relationships and sticking to it.

[]

“Batman is an island to himself, the only thing he doesn’t have is relationships. We’re making ‘About a Boy’ as directed by (action director) Michael Mann,” McKay points out.

[]

Things are about to change when Batman learns that he will eventually need the help of his sidekicks in the person of Robin and Batgirl. It will be an interesting take on how the overly self-reliant superhero will learn to live with and acknowledge his need for friends and backups. Director McKay also shared that further cameos from the LEGO DC Super Heroes are to be expected in the LEGO Batman Movie. “We’re nothing but exhaustive about the cameos and other characters that try to enter Batman’s life,” McKay says.

[]

To complement the trailer’s release anytime soon, the first official poster for the movie was tweeted by Will Arnett, along with the bold claim, “I AM Lego Batman”.

[]

Along with Will Arnett, the LEGO Batman Movie will feature the voices of Ralph Fiennes (Alfred), Michael Cera (Dick Grayson aka Robin), Rosario Dawson (Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl), and Zach Galifianakis (The Joker).

In similar news, we might not wait until 2017 to see the brickified Dark Knight throw some punches once again. Another LEGO original movie is expected to debut via Blu-ray and DVD this July. Like similar other Direct-to-DVD releases, the LEGO Justice League Gotham City Breakout will come with an exclusive minifigure. A lot has been teased lately about the special minifigure that will go along with this DVD release, and just a while ago, Jason shared what seems to be a legit photo of the exclusive Blue Nightwing that comes bundled together with the DVD release.

[]

LEGO Justice League Gotham City Breakout is already listed on AmazonUK’s website, though in a different title (LEGO Justice League Gotham Unleashed). Details are still scant as of now, but the site mentions that the movie’s Blu-ray version will be out on July 4, 2016.

No images were posted yet but we hope to see this anytime soon since Amazon has started accepting pre-orders.

The LEGO Batman Movie opens in U.S. theaters on February 10, 2017, followed by Ninjago on September 22, 2017, The LEGO Movie Sequel on May 18, 2018, and The Billion Brick Race on May 24, 2019.

What to Expect from this LEGO Ideas Entry

Over the years, almost every new LEGO movie licensed theme has been created to match with a new theatrical release. In the case of big movie franchises, some sets based on previous films were produced before the ones based on the new films. This has happened with “STAR WARS”, “Toy Story”, or “Indiana Jones”.

So a good reason to release a fourth Jurassic Park movie was the chance to see LEGO products for the previous films, right?

Strangely, the last product license ignores the previous movies and is based only on the last film in the series, “Jurassic World”. It looks a lost opportunity for such a license deal.

The key elements in the Jurassic Park films are the dinosaurs, but the movies are also filled with lots of iconic vehicles, locations, and characters with a lot of potential for a complete building toy line.

The biggest set in a utopian Jurassic Park Theme would be the Jurassic Park Visitor Center.

The LEGO Ideas Jurassic Park Visitor Center project features a complex building in the facade, as well as some rooms inside to recreate every scene in the movie:

  • Main entrance hall, with two brick-built skeletons: a sauropod and a Tyrannosaurus.
  • “Les Gigantes” restaurant, with a gift shop.
  • Kitchen.
  • V.I.P. Dining Room
  • Emergency bunker
  • Showcase theatre
  • Control room
  • Genetics lab with cold storage room

The Jurassic Park Visitor Center also features several rooms that can be hinged or detached for a better play experience. There is also space for a secret compartment at the main entrance, under the stairs.

The dinosaurs menu… I mean, the minifigures included would be:

  • John Hammond
  • Tim Murphy
  • Lex Murphy
  • Donald Gennaro
  • Ray Arnold
  • Robert Muldoon

And “The Big One” molded raptor (A.K.A. “Clever Girl”).

Jurassic Park Visitor Center specifications (note that this could change if the project becomes a product)

  • Pieces: 2623
  • Measures: 43’1x 28 x 20’7 cm

This Might Be the Coolest Rolling LEGO BB-8 That We Have Ever Seen

Hey LEGO! Care to come up with your own rolling LEGO BB-8 set?

There have been plenty of fan-built LEGO BB-8s all over the internet, but none like what Mark Smiley created and contributed at LEGO Ideas. So, what set it apart from the rest? This custom rolling LEGO BB-8 actually rolls while keeping its head afloat! Mark goes on to show that his rendition of the skittish but loyal astromech droid is made of 100% authentic LEGO parts. Needless to say, this might be the coolest custom LEGO Star Wars LEGO BB-8 that we will see rolling around. Watch its demo video below.

How to Make Your Own Custom Rolling LEGO BB-8

Mark’s BB-8 received a great deal of thumbs-up from fellow LEGO Idea supporters, running at 2398 votes as of this writing. The interesting part is that it gained almost 2,000 votes since last Friday when Gizmodo featured Mark’s ingenious creation. As you may notice, the design of Mark’s BB-8 is reminiscent of that of Sphero’s BB-8 robotic toy.

Check Out the Inner Workings of this Custom Rolling LEGO BB-8

Unlike, Sphero’s absolutely cool and sophisticated version, the build of Mark’s BB-8 is surprisingly simple. Using magnets that are bolstered up from a central axle and stabilized by LEGO weights, BB-8’s manages to keep afloat while his main body is rolling.

It lacks any electric motor that allows independent motion, however, it comes with a desert-themed docking station that allows BB-8 to roll using hand-cranked wheels while it remains stationary. As expected, there is no standard LEGO piece for BB-8’s spherical body giving Mark experimenting on certain parts as the only option.

After countless trials and errors, Mark found the perfect spherical candidate: the desert planet from the Sebulba Podracer and Tatooine set (9675). Mark said, “It took a lot of experimenting…I think I ordered one of every dome and ball-shaped piece LEGO has ever made off of Bricklink just so I could try every option.” After a quick paint job, the desert planet of Tatooine now houses the mechanisms for this adorable rolling astromech.

9675 1
The LEGO Star Wars Sebulba Podracer and Tatooine (9675) set was the basis for the spherical body of this LEGO Ideas Rolling BB-8 product idea.

Here is Mark’s commentary on his BB-8 design.

This unique BB-8 was designed with the primary goal of being able to move with his head staying up on top.  The entire model was made using 100% Genuine Lego parts.  His shells were of course carefully painted (and if this model is approved and created by Lego, the parts would come printed as so many Lego parts are).

Inside you’ll find Lego weights suspended from the central axle that bolster up two Lego magnets.  Those magnets are held up close to the top of the ball and attract the two magnets built into the head of this custom rolling LEGO BB-8.  The head uses a cockpit dome (painted), hinge parts, and the smallest Lego wheels to skate on top of the body.  The body’s shell started out as Tatooine from the Lego Star Wars Planet series. The total part count is around 180 pieces.

This Rolling LEGO BB-8 is super fun to fidget with, and roll about, and satisfies a midpoint between static model and full-on electric RC.  It would make a great addition to any Lego or Star Wars Fan’s collection!

We hope to see more support for Mark’s custom rolling LEGO BB-8 (I certainly voted for it) as LEGO gave him an extra 182 days as a way of giving a thumbs-up for the project. Perhaps future builds will incorporate NXT programming. The design potential is limitless. Just visit his LEGO Ideas page and click Support if you like to see this coolest LEGO BB-8 roll out in LEGO store shelves later on.

DK LEGO Star Wars: Chronicles of the Force With Exclusive Minifigure Officially Revealed

Several months, ago prior to the theatrical release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Amazon announced the release of a new DK Publishing book that will help any young Padawan learner explore the bricktastic Star Wars galaxy. Just recently, the movie’s website officially announced the full-details of the newest Dorling Kindersley book about the galaxy far, far away retold in a fun and entertaining way that only LEGO can deliver.

Here’s the full description as quoted from Starwars.com, as well the great reveal on the exclusive Star Wars The Force Awakens minifigure.

Looking to learn the ways of the brick side of the Force? DK Publishing is your master now.

StarWars.com is excited to reveal LEGO Star Wars: Chronicles of the Force, an in-depth, photo-filled companion to LEGO Star Wars, coming in June from DK. Written by veteran Star Wars authors Adam Bray and Cole Horton, the new tome spans the entire saga, featuring detailed information on the latest sets and minifigures of the LEGO Star Wars galaxy — and comes with an exclusive minifigure of its own. Meet “Unkar’s Brute,” one of the junk trader and thugs employed by Unkar Plutt from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, available only with LEGO Star Wars: Chronicles of the Force.

[]

Based on the above photo, the ‘Unkar’s Thug’ minifigure comes with a sand, brown color combination staying true to the harsh desolate environment of the planet Jakku. The minifig’s torso also closely resembles the old, tattered shirt of Unkar’s desert minion. While the head is a little far off from the actual character, it will be better if a helmet is added as seen from the movie. Overall, the minifigure is great and its exclusivity gives it a more “take me” appeal.

DK also has something for all LEGO Star Wars trivia lovers out there. Starting May, DK will release its Ultimate Factivity Collection: LEGO Star Wars. Designed for all Star Wars sages and Jedi in-training, it will test your knowledge across the Star Wars galaxy through cool activities, games, and puzzles jam packed together with a set of more than 500 collectible stickers. Here’s the official cover of DK’s LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Factivity Collection.

[]

DK’s LEGO Star Wars: Chronicles of the Force will be available in hardcover by June 7, and can be preordered through Amazon.  The Ultimate Factivity Collection: LEGO Star Wars activity book will be available in paperback by May 3, and can also be preordered via Amazon.

LEGO Movie Producers Shares Some Teasers About “The LEGO Movie Sequel”

Back in 2014, most people didn’t expect that much from a movie that was animated and rendered entirely using LEGO bricks dismissing it as another cartoonish, ran-off-the-mill production. However, for a film grossing at $468 million worldwide, the film is not easy to dismiss as another ho-hum script with no appeal on pop culture. In fact, even as I am writing this and for some weird reason, ‘Everything is Awesome’ keeps on playing inside my head.

Now that we are in the know of another sequel which is, as you might have guess is aptly entitled as ‘The LEGO Movie Sequel’, Warner Bros. Pictures predictably builds on the success of the first groundbreaking movie. All slated to hit the screens for the next two years, we are already informed of other spin-offs such as ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ and ‘Ninjago’ currently in the works before we see again the (mis)adventures of Emmet and his gang of master builders.

[]

We have very little information with regards to the plot and storyline of ‘The LEGO Movie Sequel’, except for the fact that writers Chris Lord and Phil Miller has already completed its first draft. However, through a recent interview with producer Roy Lee, he shared some hints on what could be potentially exciting on the next instalment from the LEGO franchise. Being careful not to divulge too much of the story’s content, Lee shared his excitement and admiration for Batman’s Gotham City and how it is rendered within the LEGO Movie landscape. Lee says, “Seeing where Batman lives in full LEGO, the audience will love seeing Gotham City fully rendered in LEGO. It’s currently being animated right now because it’s the next movie coming out. Batman will have the same character choices as he had in The LEGO Movie.”

[]

Talking about Ninjago, Lee commented, “Anyone who knows the series on Cartoon Network will be blown away by the look and feel and huge scope of how we’ve expanded the universe of Ninjago. It’s like seeing The LEGO Movie in a ninja universe.”

So, what can audiences and fans expect from the next LEGO Movie sequel in 2018? Well, Lee was particularly coy in giving out details except for the confirmation that they completed their cast of voice actors already and that every one’s role is already set into place. The first movie was filled with plenty of cameos from other LEGO franchises, and such mash up of unique and famous characters should also be expected in the sequel. Lee added, “The first movie we got a lot of cameos, and it’s not that hard to get them to say yes, especially when they already have deals with LEGO. Having Star Wars, you would think would be almost the hardest thing to get, and if we got Star Wars, there are other things that would be a lot easier.” We remember very well how Hans Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando Carlrissian made their appearance in the first movie – only to be gobbled up by a nasty space creature.

[]

For now, the best thing to do is to keep our horses together and wait until the new LEGO movies hit theaters – plus the cool themed sets that will pave the way for them. The LEGO Batman Movie premieres in U.S. theaters on February 10, 2017, followed by Ninjago on September 22, 2017, The LEGO Movie Sequel on May 18th, 2018, and Billion Brick Race on May 24th, 2019.
