Adding to the portfolio of LEGO Summer 2020 sets, LEGO has also pulled off the veil from its LEGO Friends 2020 sets all of which are now on display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany. Similar to the LEGO City and LEGO Creator sets that are on display, photography is not allowed so we will be sharing their set names and expected retail instead, courtesy once again of German LEGO fan correspondent Zusammengebaut.
This next wave of LEGO Friends 2020 sets slated for summer follows a summer vacation and jungle conservation themes and will be available sometime in June and July.

LEGO Friends Advent Calendar (41420) – €24.99
The LEGO Friends Andrea’s Pool Party (41374) from last year features a water slide function. The newer LEGO Friends sets will now include a water tube slide entirely.
The largest among the series, the LEGO Friends Water Park (41430) is said to features a handful of interesting new LEGO pieces such as the new tube pieces designed to be a sort of water slide. It is wide enough for a mini-doll to pass through while being watertight at the same time. Similar to the new play features of the LEGO City 2020 sets that focus on a Deep Sea Explorer subtheme, these new LEGO Friends summer vacation themed sets may also be played on water. Such trends with these new LEGO sets are somewhat interesting, considering that they add a new level of play not typically seen with previous LEGO sets. The Baby Elephant Rescue (41421) also features a new, blue elephant figure that adds to the roster of unique animal figures available under the LEGO Friends theme.
LEGO Friends have and perhaps will always be a regular brick staple for the LEGO Group. And now that the subtheme is close to celebrating almost a decade of its inception since 2012, let’s now take a look at what to expect from this series come 2020. These LEGO Friends 2020 sets were first unveiled by Swiss online retailer Mein Spielzeug. There eight sets introduced in this initial wave of offering, two of which belong to the ‘4+’ subtheme. I’m not that much of a fan of the LEGO Friends theme, but I have to say that some of these new-for-2020 sets are impressively designed. I like how The Big Bake Show (41393) and Friendship Bus (41395) turned out. The former is sizeable enough to offer a brick-rendition of an on-stage baking contest while the latter offers a variety of play features rolled into a mobile set.
Additionally, there are new LEGO Friends 2020 sets that LEGO refers to as Magic Cubes – somewhat similar to the idea and execution of LEGO Pods that were released some time ago. These new LEGO Friends Magic Cubes feature each of the Heartlake City residents at work in their typical areas of interest. What is interesting about these Magic Cubes is that you can somehow connect them in many different ways adding a new level of play feature once you manage to get all of them. Plus, you also get a mystery pet that I believe to be unique on each of the Magic Cubes.
Same with the rest of the LEGO 2020 sets that were revealed days ago, we can expect these LEGO Friends 2020 sets to be released on January 1st, 2020. Some third-party retailers may release these sets earlier though as early as December 26, so be sure to be on a lookout if you are interested to grab these.

In April, LEGO has revealed its next subtheme for its ever-growing LEGO Friends sets, and it carries a timely message for young and old builders alike. The LEGO Friends Sea Life Rescue subtheme will focus primarily on raising awareness among younger kids on what it means to take care of marine life and to show how a day in the life of a marine biologist looks like. There are four (4) specific sets that particularly shows care for our underwater buddies all rendered perfectly in LEGO bricks in collaboration with Nat Geo Kids.
These LEGO Friends Sea Life Rescue sets are all slated to launch this summer, with shop.LEGO.com already listing them. Read on for LEGO’s complete press release and check these crisp, official images.
LEGO® FRIENDS LAUNCHES ‘SEA LIFE RESCUE’ THEME TO INSPIRE THE MARINE BIOLOGISTS OF TOMORROW
The LEGO Group partners with National Geographic Kids on campaign to raise awareness of ocean conservation
June 4: The LEGO Group this week released a new LEGO Friends theme “Sea Life Rescue” which includes four sets focussed on life-saving marine missions. To mark the launch, the brand is partnering with National Geographic Kids to develop a campaign designed to inspire children to take action to keep our oceans safe for all animals.
The LEGO Friends sets are inspired by real-life rescue scenarios and are designed to immerse young builders and explorers in aquatic adventures. They are:
Turtles Rescue Mission – jump into a cool amphibious vehicle and rescue stranded baby turtles from the island. Treat the turtles in the beachside clinic before releasing them back into the ocean.
Dolphins Rescue Mission – a submersible craft that will take you to rescue a dolphin caught in a shipwreck.
Lighthouse Rescue Center – do life-saving research in a lab which features a sea lion play area, rest area, office and an observation deck with a lamp that can be lit by pressing the lighthouse roof.
Rescue Mission Boat – waste no time transporting sick animals in this high-powered speedboat that includes a bay with a launching function, a swivelling crane with a stretcher and a lookout position.
Juliane Aufdembrinke, Senior LEGO Designer, shared her inspiration for the theme:“When I was young, dolphins were my favourite animal so this theme is a personal favourite of mine! Children today continue to love dolphins and sea life in general, but are also passionate about protecting ocean life. The Sea Life rescue theme is designed to inspire the marine biologists, engineers and conservationists of tomorrow – in a fun and playful way.
“We are grateful to have the support of National Geographic Kids on the important topic of protecting ocean animals and it was great to collaborate with a real-life submarine pilot Erika Bergman.”
The LEGO Group and National Geographic have combined forces to create a campaign which encourages families to think of daily actions which can make a difference to the environment. It will feature National Geographic explorer and Submarine Pilot Erika Bergman, who introduces children to her work, the value of play, and how important it is to think creatively if we are to solve the challenges facing our oceans.
Erika Bergman, National Geographic Explorer, said:“This campaign is designed to share with children the realities of caring for our fascinating and magical sea life. We want them to understand the challenges facing marine animals and be inspired to come up with new ideas to protect them. The LEGO Friends Sea Life Rescue sets offer a great platform for children to explore caring for sea life in a fun, creative way and the campaign encourages them to take action, including pledging to become official ‘Sea Life Friends’. We know kids of today are hugely committed to protect our planet and wildlife, so it’s exciting to team up with LEGO Friends to connect education, play, inspiration and action.”
Inspire animal-lovers to be the hero of the day with LEGO® Friends 41376 Turtles Rescue Mission island. This rescue set includes a cool amphibious vehicle that can sail out to sea to the stranded baby turtles on the island, then drive them back to the beachside clinic. With its examination bed and a medicine area, the clinic lets children express their nurturing side as they nurse the turtles back to strength. This building set for creative kids includes one mini-doll figure, a robot figure, plus four turtle figures.
Race to rescue a trapped dolphin and find the hidden treasure with LEGO® Friends 41378 Dolphins Rescue Mission. This dolphin rescue set allows kids to act out an underwater LEGO rescue mission as Stephanie dives in her cool submersible craft to free a stricken dolphin from a shipwreck. The shipwreck’s mast is hinged so Stephanie can lift it to free the dolphin with the grabbing arm of her craft. A hidden gem-filled treasure chest adds another dimension to the action, as does the textile pirate’s map which reveals secret information when brushed with water. The set includes two mini-doll figures, plus two dolphin figures for hours of imaginative play.
Young builders will be totally immersed in adventure play with LEGO® Friends 41380 Lighthouse Rescue Center. This set has a multitude of features, including a lab, sea lion play area, rest area, TV room, office and an observation deck with a lamp that can be lit by pressing the lighthouse roof. Rescued sea lions access the lighthouse clinic using a clever hinged pool that swings through 180 degrees to bring the sea lions into the clinic. Also included is a water scooter for rescuing the sea animals and a mini island where the sea lion is trapped in an abandoned shack, which has a fun button function your child can push to set the sea lion free. There is also a treasure map hidden there—the clever textile reveals its secrets when brushed with water. This lighthouse toy provides a raft of scenarios that allow imaginations to run free and ‘nurturing play’ to come to the fore. This fun set includes two mini-dolls, plus five animal figures.
Enjoy endless hours of animal rescue adventures with LEGO® Friends 41381 Rescue Mission Boat. Young explorers will be able to play out a multitude of animal-saving scenarios with this highly equipped boat. There is a speedboat bay with launching function, swivelling crane with a stretcher for transporting sick animals, lookout position and a cockpit area. The deck is removeable to allow access to the cabin, which includes a lab, kitchen and a bedroom complete with toilet. Extending the play further is a separate heart-shaped island where a hidden water-reactive textile map hides the location of the underwater treasure chest. This LEGO boat includes three mini-doll figures, plus a narwhal toy figure and a robot figure.
There’s still plenty to expect from LEGO as they reveal their next wave of LEGO sets slated to be released this summer. From new commemorative LEGO Star Wars sets, LEGO City Space and tech savvy LEGO Technic sets, we now have our listing of some of the latest LEGO Friends 2019 summer sets to watch out for, courtesy of Zusammengebaut.
Same as before, photography is not allowed inside the LEGO show room of the Nuremberg Toy Fair. So we hope to see these sets and other LEGO reveals up close and personal when this year’s New York Toy Fair kicks in from February 16 to 19. Take note that this listing may not represent the actual set names since they were roughly translated from German via Google Translate.

The LEGO Friends Heartlake Grand Hotel (41101) from 2015.
The Amusement Park (41375) sounds interesting since its price point hints at a piece count of more than a thousand pieces. It is similarly priced as that of the Heartlake Grand Hotel (41101) from 2015 which also retailed for $129.99, and is currently the largest LEGO Friends set with a 1,552 piece count.
2016’s LEGO Friends Amusement Park Roller Coaster (41130).
You might also remember that LEGO also offered a somewhat similar set in 2016 with the Amusement Park Roller Coaster (41130) which made use of a new track piece. As the title suggests, then we might see the Amusement Park (41375) set as something that complements the Amusement Park Roller Coaster. I guess we have to wait until NYTF if ever LEGO will unveil this next big LEGO Friends set.
We’ve already seen what LEGO City has in store for the coming year, now it’s time for another major LEGO line to showcase its sets due for release in 2019. Where City was all police chases and firefighting by land, sea and air, the 2019 LEGO Friends sets has the Heartlake girls taking a vacation to the countryside.
The 2019 sets brought out for LEGO Friends can be roughly divided into two groups: the conventional sets and the novelty “Heart Box” series containing the Heartlake girls with accessories, which can be stacked for some really stylish storage. Here are the official images of these upcoming sets, thanks to French LEGO news source Hoth Bricks.

2019 LEGO Friends Sets – a number of these are country-themed
One might think it really difficult for LEGO, a brand that is all about building things, to conceptualize sets geared towards girls, particularly of the doll-playing age. But they have done just that with their current LEGO Friends product line, so popular that it gets its own LEGOLAND themed area. When a brand’s particular subtheme is big with customers and name recognition, it makes sense to develop it further. And that’s apparently what LEGO’s planning to do, according to rumor, with Friends. They’re taking a one-off set of sorts like the LEGO Valentine’s Day Heart Box (40051) set from 2013, and making a LEGO Friends Heart Box versions of it.
This rumor, first caught by fellow LEGO news source Brick Fanatics, posits that the LEGO Friends Heart Box sub-theme will have five sets of buildable trinket boxes, including mini-dolls to keep in them. These LEGO Friends Heart Boxes will be styled after the five prominent characters from the product line, the coolest group of girl-friends living in Heartlake City: Mia, Andrea, Stephanie, Olivia and Emma.
That’s not all; there’s said to be an additional Heart Box set in this initial release, serving as the debut of a new Friends character. These Heart Boxes will be mixed in with other conventional LEGO Friends sets that will be arriving in January 2019.
As always, any bit of news we introduce as a rumor will remain so until confirmed or debunked by LEGO itself. We’re still waiting on further news about another girl-centric new LEGO theme, the iCreate jewelry/accessory line rumored since August.
It seems that there will be plenty of happy LEGO fans in Germany since the much-awaited 2016 Summer LEGO sets have finally landed over at LEGOLAND Allee in Günzburg, Germany. The guys of Promobricks took some time off to visit LEGOLAND Allee, and they were delightfully surprised to see the much talked about 2016 Summer LEGO sets, specifically those from Star Wars, Friends and Creator lineups are now on display at the theme park’s store shelves ahead of its official release.
LEGO announced earlier during the New York Toy Fair that the above-mentioned sets will be released in the US sometime in August, while both Amazon UK and Amazon Japan have already listed these sets for pre-order to be released during the first week of June in their localities. Here are some of the images that Promobricks have snapped inside the store of LEGOLAND Allee in Germany.

A new LEGO Friends Jungle Boat polybag may be hitting Toys R Us stores, and the Amazon online store very soon.
The LEGO Friends Jungle Boat 30115 has shown up on Amazon and is now available in TRU stores. It retails for $4.99 each and you get a LEGO Friends Olivia mini-doll with a lime-green boat.
If you’re looking for a cost-effective way of bagging this LEGO Friends Olivia minidoll, then I wholeheartedly endorse this set as an option. Building the boat model is a joyful experience, accentuated by the introduction of a fresh color for the classic walkie-talkie accessory.
I have to say that the choice of mini-doll pieces, specifically Olivia’s legs, feels somewhat commonplace for the selected color scheme, and her top doesn’t seamlessly complement them. Nevertheless, I’m confident that younger builders will be more than glad to experiment with mixing and matching mini-doll parts, and this polybag provides a cost-effective solution to do so.
