Does the Way the LEGO Wizarding World Collectible Minifigures (71022) Blind Bags Placed Per Box Gives A Hint On What You Can Get?

The new wave of LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter and Fantastic Beast sets are now out, together with the highly in demand LEGO Harry Potter and Wizarding World Collectible Minifigures (71022). As we all know by now, the LEGO Harry Potter CMF 71022 comes with an array of impressively designed minifigs of familiar Potter-verse characters, including a chase minifig of Percival Graves/Gellert Grindelwald. We already reported on its box distribution earlier last month, giving us an idea of the odds of getting that minifigure that you really want.

This time around, an avid collector of this latest LEGO CMF has shared additional info via Reddit that will somehow increase the odds of finding that elusive LEGOF CMF (71022) character that you are looking for. According to Mabubifarti, s/he observes that the way the sixty (60) blind bags of this particular CMF is placed inside its sealed box follows a peculiar pattern. Furthermore, this tendency for a ‘preferred’ arrangement was also observed by Mabubifarti to be applicable to LEGO’s Anniversary Series 18 CMF (71021), particularly in reference to where Series 18’s chase minifig (which is the Classic Police Officer) is located inside the sealed box.

Just in case someone finds it useful, I recorded the order of the minifigures in my Harry Potter CMF box. from lego

Based on the above layout, the upper row of the table represents the back portion of the box, while the row at the very bottom of the table represents the front portion of the box. According to reports from other LEGO Harry Potter CMF collectors, Mabubifarti’s arrangement is quite accurate with 2 other slight variations from the one s/he originally shared. If this is true and you’re still on a mission to complete your very own LEGO Harry Potter CMF (71022), then it will be better to keep in mind that picking up the blind bags from both the front and back end of the box will probably yield a handful of duplicate minifigs. It seems that the best strategy to avoid any unwanted duplicates is to pick things upper column and getting each blind bag per column alternately.

71022

Of course, we must always take such reports with a grain salt, but with almost every collector reporting the same with only slight variations on the preferred arrangement, then it may also prove that such an arrangement does exist. If you’re still in doubt, you should always feel your way through each of the blind bags. The reported blind bag arrangement may only help as far as narrowing down your search, but feeling your way through each of them still gives you a much better chance of landing on that minifig that you really want.

Speaking of feeling your way through each LEGO Harry Potter CMF (71022) blind bag, The Brothers Brick has published an excellent guide that will help you increase the odds of finding that tricky minifig that you really want. Be sure to check out their feel guide before you head to your local LEGO brand store for your LEGO Harry Potter CMF hunt. Alternatively, you may also visit shop.LEGO.com if you don’t mind getting a randomly selected blind bag.

A Look at the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022) Box Distribution

Here’s a timely update on what we’ve learned so far about this next big CMF craze. Following LEGO’s official reveal of the highly anticipated LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022) a couple of weeks ago, there were earlier impressions that these J.K. Rowling inspired characters will be somehow equally represented among 60 blind bags that each box has.

71022

However, according to Brickset guru CapnRex101, this next CMF series will consist of certain rare figures and one chase minifigure per box very much similar to what LEGO did with the LEGO CMF Series 18 with its Classic Police Officer minifig.  Here’s a breakdown of the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022) box distribution:

Harry Potter:
  • 3 – Harry Potter (Hogwarts Uniform)
  • 3 – Hermione Granger
  • 3 – Ron Weasley
  • 3 – Draco Malfoy
  • 3 – Neville Longbottom
  • 3 – Cho Chang
  • 3 – Dean Thomas
  • 3 – Lord Voldemort
  • 3 – Dobby
  • 3 – Cedric Diggory
  • 3 – Filius Flitwick
  • 3 – Mad-Eye Moody
  • 3 – Albus Dumbledore
  • 2 – Luna Lovegood
  • 2 – Sybil Trelawney
  • 2 – Harry Potter (Invisibility Cloak)
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them:
  • 3 – Newt Scamander
  • 3 – Porpentina Goldstein
  • 3 – Jacob Kowalski
  • 3 – Queenie Goldstein
  • 2 – Credence Barebone
  • 1 – Percival Graves

As you can see from the above list provided by Brickset, the chase minifigure from this series will be the dubious Percival Graves. For a while there I thought that the chase minifigure will be Harry with his Invisibility Cloak. Rumors regarding the inclusion of a chase minifig in this series were circulating around LEGO fan forums for quite some time. Personally, I feel that there are a lot of better candidates to have a chase minifig other than Percival Graves. I guess I will not really understand LEGO’s decision on this one.

71022 22
Percival Graves will be the chase minifigure in the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022).

Looking further on the list, we will also see that the characters of Luna Lovegood, Sybil Trelawney, Harry Potter (with Invisibility Cloak) and Credence Barebone only has 2 minifigures for each them, leaving any LEGO CMF completionist having only 2 complete sets per box – less Percival graves of course. With such limited box distribution, I strongly feel that the cost for one complete set of this CMF series will be considerably higher in the aftermarket as compared to other LEGO CMF series before it. I guess we just have to wait and see.

The LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022) are slated to be released in August across LEGO Stores and at shop.LEGO.com.

More LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022) Images Revealed

Last week, LEGO has finally announced its next collectible minfigures series that highlights some of the most popular characters from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts franchise. Now this time around, we get our first glimpse of the respective blind bag and set image of the LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71022).

This newest LEGO CMF craze consists of 16 LEGO Harry Potter minifigures and 6 LEGO Fantastics Beasts minifigs giving us a total of 22 minifigures to collect. According to Promobricks, the box itself has the usual 60 blind bags with a reported distribution of 3 sets of the LEGO Harry Potter movies, 2 for the LEGO Fantastic Beasts. Doing the math, it means that there are 3 X 16 LEGO HP plus 2 X 6 LEGO FB for a total of 60 minifigures per box. However, this is considered speculative until officially announced by LEGO.

Based on the accessories that go with each collectible minifigure, it looks like we’re not going to have a hard time feeling our way through them. The ones that I think will be the easiest to detect are the minifigures of Cedric Diggory (because of the Triwizard Cup, Dobby with his unique head mold, and Lord Voldemort due to his torso and snake figure that goes with him. It is also interesting to note that each blind bag, particularly for those magical characters, contains an extra wand piece. This is a new piece that LEGO introduced with the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter sets. This latest CMF also introduces the first-ever articulated shorter minifigure legs that previously not available for children minifigs and other shorter characters.
