LEGO Goonies and LEGO Gizmo Sets Will Finally Happen!

The LEGO Ideas team has just released an announcement that will certainly delight AFOLs and fans of the 80s. This time, they’re reaching deep into the vault of 80’s nostalgia with the announcement of new LEGO Ideas sets based on iconic films from the decade. Thanks to the recent If We Could Turn Back Time challenge on LEGO Ideas, fans will soon be able to get their hands on some truly exciting new releases, including a LEGO Goonies set and a buildable LEGO Gizmo figure from Gremlins.

The 80s Are Back: LEGO Goonies Set Announcement

LEGO Goonies: A Nostalgic Adventure in Brick Form

For fans of the classic 80’s film The Goonies, the announcement of a LEGO Goonies set is nothing short of a dream come true. This highly anticipated set created by Delusion Brick, promises to capture the adventurous spirit of the movie, transporting builders back to the days of treasure maps, pirate ships, and epic childhood adventures.

One-Eyed Willie’s Pirate Ship: The Ultimate Playset

One of the standout features of the LEGO Goonies set is the detailed recreation of One-Eyed Willie’s pirate ship. On one side, you’ll find a meticulously crafted playset that pays homage to the iconic finale of the film. This is more than just a display piece; it’s a playground for your imagination, allowing you to relive the thrilling climax of the Goonies’ quest for treasure.

On the flip side, the set includes mini vignettes that trace the Goonies’ journey throughout the movie. These connected scenes offer a variety of play experiences, making it easy to recreate key moments from the film. From the hidden caves to the booby traps, every detail has been carefully considered to delight fans and builders alike in this upcoming LEGO Goonies set.

LEGO Gizmo: The Cutest Brick-Built Figure Yet

While the LEGO Goonies set is sure to be a hit, it’s not the only exciting release coming our way. The buildable LEGO Gizmo figure, inspired by the *Gremlins* movie, is another standout project that’s set to become a favorite among collectors and fans.

Articulation and Detail: A Posable Masterpiece

Designed by the talented LEGO Ideas contributor Terauma, the LEGO Gizmo figure is a posable brick-built figure that’s bursting with personality. Featuring multiple articulation points, this figure is more than just a static model; it’s a fully interactive piece that allows for a range of poses and expressions.

But it’s not just the articulation that makes this figure special. The attention to detail is astounding, with every brick carefully chosen to capture the essence of this beloved 80’s character. From his big ears to his expressive eyes, Gizmo has never looked better in LEGO brick form.

One of the coolest features of the LEGO Gizmo figure is its ability to be modified into the Rambo Gizmo from Gremlins 2. This fun twist adds an extra layer of playability to the figure, allowing fans to recreate one of the most memorable moments from the sequel. While the buildable figure itself is impressive, the addition of potential Gremlin minifigures would be the icing on the cake, making this set a must-have for any fan of the franchise.

Return to the 80s Pop Culture with the LEGO Goonies and LEGO Gizmo Sets

The “If We Could Turn Back Time” challenge was a brilliant move by LEGO, tapping into the ever-present demand for nostalgic themes from the 1980s. Fans have been clamoring for a Goonies set ever since the inception of LEGO Ideas, and it’s clear that the excitement surrounding this release is well-deserved.

But LEGO’s decision to explore these franchises goes beyond just fan service. They’ve already secured the rights to both *The Goonies* and *Gremlins* through their work on LEGO Dimensions, so it only makes sense to fully utilize these licenses in their latest sets. This move not only satisfies long-time fans but also introduces these iconic films to a new generation of LEGO enthusiasts.

What’s Next? The Possibilities Are Endless

With the eventual release of the LEGO Goonies and LEGO Gizmo sets, the door is wide open for more 80s-inspired sets to join the LEGO lineup. Fans can’t help but speculate on what might come next. Could we finally see the LEGO A-Team van, or perhaps the iconic KITT from Knight Rider? Though these sets already received their respective LEGO treatment when we first saw them as part of the now-discontinued LEGO Dimensions theme, the possibility of having full-sized sets from these IPs is surely exciting.

The LEGO Goonies and LEGO Gizmo sets are set to bring a wave of 80s nostalgia to your LEGO collection. With intricate designs, playful features, and a deep connection to beloved films, these fan-inspired sets will certainly be on every 80s LEGO fan’s wishlist.

LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691 Gift-With-Purhcase Set Unveiled!

LEGO fans and collectors can expect another gift-with-purchase (GWP) set to swoop in anytime soon. The LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691 is now listed over at LEGO.com as an upcoming LEGO Creator 3-in-1 set that looks quite familiar.

A Closer Look at LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691

The LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691 is more than just a set—it’s an invitation to explore a world of imagination and creativity. This set clocks in at 278 pieces and is valued at £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.88, offering more potential for creative building.

With this set, you can construct not just one, but three unique mythical beings. The primary model is the legendary Pegasus, complete with poseable wings, feet, head, and tail. But the creativity doesn’t stop there since you can also build a cute mythical dragon and a mystical bird, each with its own distinct personality. To top it off, the set includes an ancient Greek-style pedestal, providing a majestic stand to display your creations.

Comparing LEGO Mythical Pegasus with the LEGO Magical Unicorn 31140

As you may notice, this latest LEGO offering looks somewhat familiar. For those keen on LEGO’s previous promotional items, the LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691 might remind you of last year’s LEGO Magical Unicorn 31140 set. Both sets feature a similar white color scheme and tri-color tails, and they share near-identical elements in their construction. However, the Pegasus set offers almost double the piece count, giving you more opportunities to build and customize.

While the LEGO Magical Unicorn set focused on a seahorse and peacock for its alternate builds, the LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691 steps up the game with a mythical dragon and bird. These new creatures add excitement and variety, making the Pegasus set a must-have for any LEGO fan.

When Can You Get Your Hands on the LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691?

Currently, there’s no official release date for the LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691 set as a GWP. However, rumors suggest that it might become available sometime in August. The spending threshold to obtain this promotional build is also yet to be announced, but I’ll update this post once more info comes in.

In the meantime, it’s the perfect opportunity to start planning your next LEGO purchase so that you’re ready to grab this enchanting set as soon as it’s available. Check out the full product description of the LEGO Mythical Pegasus 40691 set below.

LEGO Wicked Sets Revealed: Four Magical New Sets to Add to Your Collection

Exciting news for LEGO and musical fans alike—LEGO Wicked is now officially here! The LEGO Group, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, has officially revealed a stunning lineup of four brand-new LEGO Wicked sets.

These sets are inspired by the much-anticipated musical event film Wicked,  coming to theaters in November 2024. Featuring beloved characters like Glinda, Elphaba, The Wizard, and more, these sets are set to capture the hearts of both LEGO enthusiasts and fans of the iconic musical.

Mark your calendars for October 1st, 2024, because these enchanting sets will officially be available in all LEGO stores and online. However, if you can’t wait that long, pre-orders are open now. You may take a closer look at these new LEGO Wicked sets by following our LEGO affiliate links below.

A Magical Journey from Stage to Screen

The transition of Wicked from a beloved stage musical to a cinematic event is nothing short of spellbinding. This generation-defining movie tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, with Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. These two characters, one misunderstood for her green skin and the other gilded by privilege, form an unlikely friendship that leads them on a journey of self-discovery, ultimately shaping them into Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Dive into the LEGO Wicked Sets

For those excited to bring a piece of this magical world home, the LEGO Wicked offers four new sets. Let’s take a closer look at these upcoming enchanting sets.

LEGO Wicked Glinda, Elphaba & Nessarose at Shiz University (75681)

For fans of the iconic Shiz University scenes, this set is a must-have. The LEGO Wicked Glinda, Elphaba & Nessarose at Shiz University (75681) features a two-story university building with balconies, study spaces, and more. You can even set sail with Glinda on her beautifully detailed boat as she arrives at the prestigious university, ready to make her mark on Oz.

LEGO Wicked Elphaba & Glinda Figures (75682)

This set is a must-have for any Wicked fan. Not only does it feature detailed brick versions of Elphaba and Glinda, but it also includes a QR code that lets you build along to the iconic Defying Gravity tune from the movie. The set comes with lovely accessories—Elphaba’s broom and Glinda’s purse and crown—making it perfect for both play and display.

LEGO Wicked Glinda & Elphaba’s Dormitory (75683)

You can now recreate the enchanting dorm room of Glinda and Elphaba with this beautifully detailed suitcase set. True to LEGO form, the set opens up to reveal a fully furnished dormitory, complete with a hidden QR code that lets fans play the song Popular from the movie. It’s perfect for those who want to add a touch of Oz to their LEGO collection while exploring new possibilities.

LEGO Wicked Welcome to Emerald City (75684)

The largest set in this collection, the iconic Emerald City is now given a LEGO version that offers a grand view of the magical, colorful place and also comes with five mini-dolls: Glinda, Elphaba, The Wizard, Madame Morrible, and Fiyero. Personally, I was hoping LEGO would throw in minifigure versions of these characters since it is a cool way to bring back Elphaba in her Wicked Witch form as seen in 2015’s LEGO Dimensions Wicked Witch Fun Pack (71221), and 2017’s LEGO Batman Movie The Ultimate Batmobile (70917).

Unlock Hidden Magic with QR Codes

As you may have guessed by now, each LEGO Wicked set comes with hidden QR codes that allow fans to unlock exclusive content. Whether it’s a song, a scene, or a new adventure, these codes add an extra layer of magic to the already enchanting sets. They’re perfect for fans looking to create even more pink and green LEGO Wicked moments.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Here We Go Again

First, we have the delightful Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Here We Go Again by Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano. The highlight is the functional waterfall, which can even be motorized, though it’s yet to be confirmed if this feature will be included in the final product.

Next, we have the breathtaking Italian Riviera by Alex Sahli. Inspired by the picturesque cliffside villages of Cinque Terre, this vibrant 2,900-piece model is a fresh addition to LEGO’s architectural sets. The design includes a gelato shop, fish market, florist, second-story living space, town square, and beach, capturing the essence of a charming Italian village.

Both of these sets are expected to be available for purchase within the next couple of years, adhering to the typical timeline for LEGO Ideas models. However, the final designs may undergo modifications to ensure stability, affordability, and overall feasibility. These LEGO Ideas Third 2023 review results truly show a lot of potential.

Honorable Mention: Disney Pixar Luxo Jr Lamp

In addition to the two confirmed sets from its LEGO Ideas Third 2023 review results, the LEGO Ideas team is still evaluating TOBY1KENOBI20506’s Disney Pixar Luxo Jr Lamp.
