It’s times like this when we can’t help but miss the old LEGO store calendars. Just days ago LEGO sent out online alerts for a VIP double-points event period. The thing was, one advisory said it will run this week, February 24 to 28. Another version noted it’ll be from March 12 to 14 instead. There was also some confusion on the regions where the 2x-Point would apply. LEGO.com US and its UK/Europe counterpart can have different dates after all. And indeed, we now have clarification on the event courtesy of The Brick Fan. If you’re LEGO shopping, listen up.
The February 24-28 LEGO VIP double-points event period applies to LEGO.com UK, Europe and Australia. The March 12-14 VIP period on the other hand is for LEGO.com US. Thankfully that clears up any possible confusion. It’s strange however that the Euro-Australian edition has more days to get double VIP points than North America. Then again, double points are double points. And if you haven’t joined LEGO’s VIP by now, then you really should consider. Happy LEGO VIP shopping then over there in Europe and Australia. The other greeting will have to wait until next month.
This week there’s been something of a mess when it comes to LEGO alerting people online regarding their promotions. Some confusion may be understandable. Until last year, LEGO informed customers of promos and special offers via official store calendars. Unfortunately they were phased out by the end of 2021. Instead, LEGO would try to make online announcements via LEGO.com or email/newsletters. Earlier this week there was a LEGO alert for a 2x VIP points period this coming Thursday. But as the date approached, LEGOShop didn’t update its upcoming offers. Now, a second email alert says that LEGO VIP event will be next month instead.
Brick Fanatics has it that the LEGO VIP double-points event may have shifted dates from February to March. On February 22 LEGO announced to its newsletter subscribers via email that the double-points period will run February 24-28. This seemed to debunk earlier rumors of the same event happening in the middle of next month. But shortly afterwards another email alert from LEGO gave the VIP double-points date as March 12-14. Interestingly, the new date came from an alert courtesy of LEGO.com US. UK-based Brick Fanatics believes this might be a regional difference, but The Brick Fan thinks this is universal.
Perhaps the simple thing to do is to wait until February 24 to confirm if the earlier dates check out. If there’s no change in the active offers at the online LEGO Shop, then it’s on for March. Of course, it may still depend if you’re checking LEGO.com US or UK. The March VIP 2xPoints rumor, pre-LEGO announcement/s, noted a possible GWP simultaneously releasing. It supposedly depicts primatologist and chimpanzee expert Jane Goodall. The promo period was also pegged as ending March 15 instead of 14.
We all know this is coming. With us now in the middle of November, Black Friday draws ever nearer. With that highly-anticipated event come the expected special deals and new releases courtesy of LEGO. In fact, some of those surprises are already known. LEGO’s got big sets like the Star Wars UCS AT-AT (75313) accompanied by multiple GWPs. But the rest remain unknown; or at least they were. LEGO.com Australia revealed even more deals for Black Friday this past weekend according to Brickset. We make note of them even as the other LEGO.com portals officially list the same by now.
Officially, the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period runs November 26-29. But if you’re a LEGO VIP member then the fun starts earlier for you; one weekend earlier in fact. VIPs can get these special deals from November 20 to 21. They will rerun for everybody on the weekend after that. Here’s what LEGO’s got lined up:
Doubled VIP Points (naturally)
VIP GWP: Retro Tin Sign (evoking old LEGO box covers) – collectible with LEGO purchases over $309
VIP Reward Center Sale (discount VIP points on rewards)
Vintage Camera set – 2,000 VIP point redemption, while stocks last
See how advantageous LEGO VIP membership can be? You get a shot at these deals early before everyone else storms in on Black Friday. If you miss it then, there’s always November 26-29. That’s when the LEGO Star Wars UCS AT-AT (75313) launches.
Last week, we got wind of a possible LEGO VIP event running from October 11 to 17. Said event is one that many VIP members look forward to: Double points. Due to LEGO no longer promoting them on store calendars, 2x VIP Point periods can just come from nowhere. The above week-long event got attention due to LEGO Stores in the UK making preparations. At the time it didn’t seem certain that Double VIP Points would be awarded anywhere else. Well thanks to Brickset.com pointing it out, we know it’s happening elsewhere at LEGO Shop@Home.
So there: become a LEGO VIP and double your points up until this coming Sunday. Not just in the UK but major LEGO Shop@Home markets (North America, Western Europe) are in on the event. Various LEGO news sources we consulted have ideas on how to spend your 2x VIP point earnings this week. According to them you have the choice between new set releases from October 1, or products marked for retirement. It only runs for a week, after all. We see no need to be stingy with the double points you gain. Enjoy your shopping online at LEGO Shop@Home.
When we in The Brick Show would feature the LEGO VIP program, what sort of news excites you most? The early access for new upcoming sets might be a strong possibility; why wait after all? Or maybe you look forward more to promos on VIP points. That’s good, especially when LEGO decides to double VIP points for a limited period of time. In fact, our announcing double points used to happen more frequently until LEGO stopped advertising them on store calendars. Now we have to catch them on Shop@Home updates, or perhaps the occasional rumor.
The Brick Fan would have it that LEGO UK might be planning double VIP points next week. This month of October tended to be the usual period for 2x VIP promos, so the timing can be considered appropriate. This double-point period apparently runs from Monday the 11th to Sunday the 17th. Only LEGO UK looks to be gearing up for this, understandable perhaps given their cheaper VIP discount vouchers. Furthermore, compared to past 2x VIP events, the duration on this rumored period falls short. There’s a 2x graphic in the VIP page for LEGO Shop@Home US, but that doesn’t seem to be connected at all.
Being a LEGO VIP is awesome. We’ve given readers that song and dance before, but it’s one that we’ll keep repeating. After all, why not become a LEGO VIP? Early access to new sets, gifts-with-purchases, VIP points and Sweepstakes for cool stuff is nothing to sneeze at. And every now and then, LEGO doubles the points for selected LEGO sets for limited periods. That’s great if you’re planning on buying a set that was awarded double-points. This month, two videogame-related LEGO sets are carrying this bonus for you LEGO VIPs.
LEGO Shop@Home is shining the spotlight on two sets from LEGO Minecraft, released in May. Take a gander at The Sky Tower (21173) and The Modern Treehouse (21174). Both LEGO Minecraft sets are worth double the VIP points for all of September.

On Shop@Home US the LEGO Minecraft Sky Tower (21173) is normally estimated at 390 points. Modern Treehouse (21174) meanwhile has about 780. At double points for September, LEGO VIPs can earn 780 for buying 21173 online, or 1,560 points for 21174. This only lasts until September 30 so don’t delay. If you happen to join the VIP program now then you’ll also receive a free minifigure keychain. This gift’s available until the end of the year, or while supplies last.
