LEGO YouTube Community Surpasses 13 Billion Views in the First Half of 2024

The LEGO YouTube community has taken the platform by storm, racking up an astounding 13 billion views in just the first half of 2024. This massive figure, as reported on YouTube’s blog site,  is a testament to the ever-growing popularity of LEGO content on YouTube, where fans and creators alike come together to share their passion for the iconic bricks.

The LEGO YouTube Phenomenon: A Record-Breaking Year

Why LEGO YouTube is So Popular

lego youtube

The variety of LEGO content available on YouTube is truly staggering. It certainly has gone a long way since the early days of Jason and Stephen doing reviews over at our long-dead TBS channel (trigger nostalgic feels). From detailed set reviews and intricate animations to jaw-dropping LEGO MOCs (My Own Creations) and custom builds, the LEGO YouTube community offers something for everyone.

A Community Celebrated by YouTube

In recognition of this vibrant and growing community, YouTube has gone the extra mile to showcase the talents of LEGO content creators. The platform has curated a dedicated playlist featuring some of the most popular LEGO videos, highlighting animators, reviewers, and LEGO MOC builders who have captivated millions of viewers.

lego youtube

To further celebrate these creators, YouTube has even gone so far as to craft custom LEGO versions of its iconic logo for some of the community’s most influential figures. This gesture mirrors the company’s tradition of awarding Play Buttons to creators who reach significant subscriber milestones, showing just how much the LEGO community means to YouTube.

Highlights from the LEGO YouTube Community

Among the many initiatives, YouTube has also produced a special LEGO-themed video, bringing together popular YouTubers like Emmasaurus and Citrine’s Animations. This fun and engaging compilation offers a unique look at the personalities and creativity that make the LEGO YouTube community so special. Check out YouTube’s tribute to the LEGO Community below.

The incredible success of LEGO-related content on YouTube in 2024 is not just a flash in the pan. With a passionate and dedicated community of creators continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with the humble LEGO brick, the future looks brighter than ever for LEGO YouTube.

And though we might not see much of Jason and Stephen following the old format of The Brick Show as we know it back then (hey, you can still find them over at Facebook and Instagram), we can still be confident that LEGO-inspired content made by fans for fans, is here to stay. Whether you’re a long-time LEGO AFOL or new to the world of bricks, there’s never been a better time to dive into the LEGO YouTube universe.

This Custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate Diorama is a 500,000-Piece Marvel

Imagine walking into a room and being greeted by a towering, 13-foot-wide, and 6-foot-tall LEGO masterpiece. This custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate Diorama is nothing short of breathtaking. Created by the talented team at Brickstory, with the help of some dedicated AFOLs in the community such as JBSpielwaren, BrickCollective, BrickWolf, and more, this diorama brings to life one of the most iconic locations from the Star Wars prequels and the Clone Wars series.

A Custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate Diorama Like No Other

Building the Galactic Senate Chamber in LEGO Form

The sheer scale of this project is astonishing. With half a million LEGO pieces meticulously assembled, this custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate diorama captures the grandeur of this venerable institution in all its glory. From the curved walls to the intricate senator pods, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to mirror what fans have seen on screen.

The process began with the frame, a foundation strong enough to support the massive structure. Each piece had to be carefully selected and placed, with some of its parts being repurposed from other sets like the 2020 LEGO Disney Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse (43179) set. Additionally, custom pieces were created to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the Supreme Chancellor’s podium, a focal point of the chamber.

Ingenious Engineering and Collaborative Efforts

One of the most impressive aspects of this custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate diorama is the engineering required to bring it to life. The builders didn’t just stack bricks—they curved them, creating the sweeping walls of the custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate chamber.

Brickstory didn’t work in isolation; they involved the community in the creation process. At a local event, fans and visitors were invited to help assemble the senator pods, adding a collaborative spirit to the project. These pods, each built individually, were then connected to the main frame, curving gracefully down the chamber walls just as they do in the movies.

A Treasure Trove of Easter Eggs for Star Wars Fans

For Star Wars enthusiasts, this diorama is more than just a massive custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate build—it’s a celebration of the franchise. Scattered throughout the model are numerous Easter eggs that pay homage to different characters and moments from the Star Wars saga.

Whether it’s a subtle reference to Jar-Jar Binks’ controversial decision that altered the course of the galaxy or a nod to Mon Mothma’s early days as a rebellion leader, this build is filled with details that fans will love to discover. There’s even a nod to that particular race of aliens that look very much alike to ET as he is rendered in the now discontinued LEGO Dimensions theme.

This Custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate Diorama Gives Tribute to One of the Film’s Iconic Scenes

The Galactic Senate Chamber is a setting rich with pivotal moments in Star Wars history. It’s where Yoda faced off against Emperor Palpatine in an epic duel, and where major decisions that shaped the galaxy were made. The custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate diorama captures this iconic location with precision, allowing fans to relive these memorable scenes.

The builders paid special attention to recreating the floating senator platforms, a defining feature of the Senate Chamber. In the diorama, these platforms are strategically positioned, with some even floating outward, ready to host the next senator’s impassioned speech. The attention to detail in these elements adds a dynamic quality to the build, making it feel as if the scene could come to life at any moment.

The Journey Behind the Build: Hundreds of Hours of Dedication

While the exact time spent on this massive undertaking remains a mystery, it’s clear that the project required hundreds of collective hours. The dedication and passion poured into this build are evident in every brick. From the initial design to the final assembly, the builders at Brickstory and their community collaborators demonstrated an incredible commitment to bringing this custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate diorama to life in brick form.

The custom LEGO Star Wars Galactic Senate Diorama is more than just a build; it’s a work of art that encapsulates the essence of one of Star Wars’ most important locations. With its 500,000 pieces, detailed design, and collaborative spirit, this diorama is sure to draw crowds.

Whether you’re a LEGO fan, a Star Wars fanatic, or simply someone who appreciates incredible craftsmanship, this diorama is sure to leave you in awe. If you need to see more about the creative process behind this 500,000-piece wonder, then check out this video from Brickstory.

Many thanks to Brickstory for sharing this awesome feat (and pretty cool images as well).
